AIRTEC Motorsport Auxiliary Radiator and Turbo Cooler Kit for Modified Yaris GR
Following an extensive development process, AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to launch the auxiliary radiator and turbo cooler kits designed specifically for modified Yaris GR owners who require the ultimate cooling package for track or fast road use.
The Challenge:
When increasing power and torque in the Yaris GR through modifications, the additional heat generated becomes a significant issue for the caras cooling system. During hard use, coolant temperatures can reach levels that trigger safety features, causing the car to go into limp mode. Oil temperatures also rise to concerning levels. To continue modifying and tracking the Yaris, a solution for the entire cooling system was necessary.
The Solution:
Developed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, we have designed a series of new products to address the cooling issues when pushed to the limit. The additional radiator fits neatly behind the fog light (requires removal) and utilizes laser-cut aluminium ducting to force cold air through the radiator. Air then exits via the inner arch liner (requires cutting) to create a flow path and further improve cooling. Mesh shields are provided for both the front and rear to protect the radiator from road debris damage.
The radiator is directly plumbed into the existing oil/water heat exchanger system, enhancing the caras overall capacity and cooling ability. This allows for a steady temperature during hard use. The kit can be combined with any of our intercooler or oil cooler combinations to create the ultimate cooling package. It includes laser-cut and powder-coated brackets, high-quality Pro Hoses silicone lines, as well as all fixtures, fittings, and detailed fitting instructions.
The Testing:
We conducted track testing with both our turbo and auxiliary radiators, along with our larger Stage 3 oil cooler. The results showed a 10-degree peak drop in coolant temperature, stabilizing at a safer constant 92 degrees. The oil temperature reached a maximum of 94 degrees, thanks to the larger oil cooler and the turbo cooleras ability to reject more heat for the caras original oil/water heat exchanger.
